The House of Kat Pay It Forward Program is designed to help give back to the people in Maine like the Guerrette Family who survived a machete attack in their home in May of 2008. Kat Powers volunteered her time & resources to make their home, the scene of the attack, a place they were able to come call home again. Read full story here . The money is also for sponsoring worthy causes like The Ride for Freddy Rally as well as for something as simple as giving a homeless man $20 during the holidays.
Kat Powers has a group friends that call themselves the “Super Chicks”. They meet once a month and every month they challenge one another to perform a minimum of one Random Act of Kindness. Last November in the Portland Press Herald there was a story of a homeless man who received $20 from a stranger just before the holidays along with a business card that read “You have been the recipient of a random act of kindness, please pass it on.” The man took the twenty and immediately gave to $10 to another man in need, then applied the rest of his to a bus ticket to visit his 80 year old mother for the Holidays. He was so touched by this act that he went to the Portland Press Herald to tell his story. His words were simply “ It is important for people to know that kindness is still alive and well in Portland Maine.” It is amazing how important $20 can be to someone who truly needs it. The woman in the story was Kat Powers and this story was about her monthly Random Act of Kindness, and this mans response truly motivated her to perform & promote Random Acts of Kindness through her business.
